Relief Caretaking Service for Schools

Leeds City Council's Cleaning Agency will no longer be providing a relief caretaking service after March 31st 2007.

The Commissioning, Procurement and Business Development Team now have an approved list of agencies who can supply properly vetted and trained relief caretaking staff.  If schools require relief cover for planned absences it would be advisable for schools to give the agencies as much notice as possible.

The agencies must be provided with full details of the skills, qualifications and experience required together with the normal working hours and place of work.
Any other requirements, such as the need for workers to provided their own work wear or tools must also be specified. Job descriptions, employee specifications and interviews should be employed where appropriate.

The most efficient way of communicating with the agencies is by email. It enables the same information to be provided to several agencies at the same time and is not limited to working hours. Deadline dates and times for responses should be included

Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Checks

If CRB checks are required for the workers being supplied this must be included in the specification provided to the agency. The cost of the CRB check could be an additional charge to the school concerned.
