The general requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act are applicable to all schools, however the performance standards and systems required may be over and above those required within industrial settings due to the nature of the population group. Health and safety practitioners should be members of a professional body such as IOSH, CIEH, IIRSM, this indicates a satisfactory level of competency as a minimum.
