Where schools choose to source their temporary staff requirements from the suppliers on the framework contract, there is no requirement for further quotations to be sought. Best value to schools both in terms of cost and quality have been critical factors in the choice of the organisations that make up the framework. Schools are reminded that where they source their requirement from agencies outside the framework agreement then quotations should be sought in line with Schools contracts standing orders. The key element of the standing orders is the need to seek best value and where expenditure exceeds £5000 then a minimum of three quotes should be sought. Schools should be aware that for the purposes of compliance with the standing orders, expenditure on items should be seen as an aggregate figure rather than on a individual basis. Therefore if your expenditure on temporary teachers sought from agencies is greater than £5000 per annum, quotations should be sought in line with the above Schools Contracts standing orders.
