Purpose of the Service
To provide an integrated waste and recycling service that meets the targets
set by both the Government and Leeds City Council.
Description of the Service
To provide suitable containers to maximise the collection efficiencies and
control cost. All containers are weighed to ensure a true cost for disposal and
recycling is invoiced. This also provides valuable management information for
Leeds City Council's environmental reporting. For more information on how to

Confidential Waste
Provided by Yorwaste
Confidential waste destruction services are provided at the corporate level as part of the trade waste contract. This contract provides secure vetted destruction of confidential waste to ensure we meet our obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998.
Yorwaste were awarded this element of our waste contract in June 2008, and all materials taken by them for destruction are recycled.
This service provides locked office bins from the Nexus range, enabling staff
to dispose of confidential waste securely at work. A bag and now secure skip
service are also provided for intermittent and bulk collections/archive
clearouts.

Some staff however still choose to shred their own confidential waste which can then be recycled through the normal office mixed paper & card recycling.
