- Purpose of the service
(click to expand)- The role of the Communications Team is to enable Education Leeds'
teams to communicate effectively to internal and external audiences,
including schools, via:
- information and dissemination and feedback - establishing
systems for two-way communications;
- consultation - listening to schools and their communities,
and ensuring transparency and flexibility;
- e-communications - delivering 21st century communications;
- marketing - promoting the vision of education in Leeds and
celebrating successes across the city;
- media relations - raising the profile of education in Leeds
via press and broadcast media;
- risk and reputation management - managing crisis communications, handling sensitive information and balancing negative opinions.

(click to expand)- The Communications Team consists of the following services:
- Customer Relations - managing customer feedback, advising
on managing school complaints, support for corporate consultation and
customer service improvements, facilitation of the Family of Schools
and Headteacher Forum meetings, management of the Schools Hotline,
co-ordination of school term dates;
- Leadership Support - administrative and secretarial support
to the Executive and Leadership Teams of Education, receptionist
service for Education Leeds main reception, management of crisis line
for schools, management of Ofsted 'hotline', administrative support
for Education Leeds Board;
- Marketing - advice and guidance on promotional
opportunities, event management, and marketing material production for
schools;
- Media Relations - direct handling of journalists on behalf of schools. Will act as intermediary between schools and journalists and provide advice and guidance to Headteachers and Governors on managing the media. Assistance with the production and promotion of stories to issue to the media. Advice on photography and filming and reactive/proactive media interviews.
